Februrary 24 - Weekend Writing Warriors

News:
Kudos to: Claudia Barry for her water color painting
David Ammons for his original art work
Jeff Bennington for his cover design.

The Set Up
My contribution for this week comes from Chapter Eight of The Presidents Club, my serial novel on VentureGalleries.com.
This scene includes a reference to a significant event from my first novel, The Tourist Killer.
We join a discussion between billionaire-activist Julian Thibaut and his chief of security, Gerald Pointe.
        Thibaut is speaking...

The Six Sentences
"Jane has done an excellent job of keeping the attempt on my life out of the news. Just a few people at the meeting knew about it. They were focused on Farrell’s heart attack. He got all the attention.”
Pointe commented, “He was dead when he hit the floor. The media said it was a heart attack, but rumors persist that he was shot.”
Thibaut stood and with no emotion, commented, “I wouldn’t know anything about that. Let’s get the calendar set and coordinate the schedules.”

  1. To soon to tell if that's plausible denial or not, right? I like the tone in this excerpt, tense stuff! Great snippet!

  2. Thibault's denial sounds a bit fishy to me. Emotionless. I'd watch my back around him. Good character show. Great snippet!

  3. I agree with Jenna, the denial feels off, just a bit to casual, like he's sweeping the situation under the table. Interesting snippet this week, Frank.

    1. Thanks Joanne.
A lot of folks put in a lot of hard work on the cover, including the main character.

  11. That is a nice cover! Lucky you! Heart attack vs. bullet...should be easy enough to figure out eventually.

  13. I'm not sure if I believe him. Shouldn't he be surprised at the idea that it wasn't a heart attack? I suppose he could have heard of the rumor before but he dismissed the whole thing rather quickly. Then again in the high stakes game they're playing assassination would be rather commonplace, wouldn't it?

So much potential from those eight sentences. Good work, FC!

    1. Kate,
The parts of their conversation relating to the heart attack relate to my first book and Thibaut isn't suprised at all.
Yes, in the game these people play, taking out the opponents king is commonplace.
      Thanks for stopping by!
