The world thinks he had a heart attack.

The Eight Sentences:
She touched a remote switch and heavy drapes concealed the windows and muted the sound of the thunderstorm, “I’m going to the States for a meeting with Julian Thibaut.”
“You’ve spent a noteworthy amount of time with him since Brian’s death.”
She ignored the suggestion and took the conversation in another direction, “You mean, since Brian’s murder.”
“The world thinks he had a heart attack,” answered Byrd.
“We know different -- and I know who pulled the trigger and who put up the money.”
Byrd was staggered by the revelation. He hesitated for a moment, looked at the floor, took a deep breath and changed the subject, “Do you think Thibaut will have an interest in a sizeable portion of our stock?”
Star made eye contact, smiled, and replied, “Probably, but before I find out, I’m having an old friend for dinner.”

The Setup:
Star Braun plans a trip to the States. It's just the tip of the ice berg and the first in a series of dominoes about to fall. She's discussing it with a business associate and friend.

Februrary 24 - Weekend Writing Warriors

News:
Kudos to: Claudia Barry for her water color painting
David Ammons for his original art work
Jeff Bennington for his cover design.

The Set Up
My contribution for this week comes from Chapter Eight of The Presidents Club, my serial novel on VentureGalleries.com.
This scene includes a reference to a significant event from my first novel, The Tourist Killer.
We join a discussion between billionaire-activist Julian Thibaut and his chief of security, Gerald Pointe.
        Thibaut is speaking...

The Six Sentences
"Jane has done an excellent job of keeping the attempt on my life out of the news. Just a few people at the meeting knew about it. They were focused on Farrell’s heart attack. He got all the attention.”
Pointe commented, “He was dead when he hit the floor. The media said it was a heart attack, but rumors persist that he was shot.”
Thibaut stood and with no emotion, commented, “I wouldn’t know anything about that. Let’s get the calendar set and coordinate the schedules.”

Cholesterol

My total cholesterol blood value has hovered around 200 for over 15 years. Last year it was 237. We're waiting on results of lab tests done last week to see how it stands now. After reading and reviewing this new book, I'm VERY reluctant to consider oral meds.

When the first studies came out indicating that cholesterol could be a contributing factor to atherosclerosis and heart attacks, the "normal" range of blood levels for total cholesterol was established as 150 to 300. Over the years, the higher end of the range has been lowered. Dr. Curtis says it was lowered with no evidence to support the change.

Check it out and see what you think. If you or someone you love is taking or thinking about taking drugs to lower your cholesterol, the modest investment in time and money in this book could make a difference!
