The Stones turn fifty

To commemorate their 50th anniversary the Rolling Stones commissioned Shepard Fairey to update their classic Tongue and Lips logo, originally designed by John Pasche in 1971.

For comparison purposes, here's the old version:

  1. My husband Butch just told me a story about going into Woolworth’s when he was a boy. He’d saved his paper route money to buy a Rolling Stones album, so he bought it and could hardly wait to play it when he got home. Back in his room he opened it, pulled out the record, and found a Dave Clark Five album instead of the Stones :-(

  2. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. When "Some Girls" came out, it was panned by several reviewers. Went on to become very popular. You never know. But who would have expected the DC5? LOL

  3. The Stones always looked fifty. Now they just look worn out. Then the music comes on, and they never age.

    1. KR looks like his face caught on fire and someone tried to put it out with an ice pick. And you're right. The music is ageless. Thanks for the comment.
